Fotojournalist gedood op Filipijnen

In this photo released by Mindanews Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, photojournalist Gene Boyd Lumawag walks during a coverage in Davao city, southern Philippines in March, 2004. Lumawag, photo editor for the independent Filipino news agency MindaNews, was shot in the head Friday while on his way to take pictures in the volatile southern province of Jolo.
By the count of a local media organization, Lumawag would be the 48th journalist killed since democracy was restored in the Philippines in 1986 and the ninth killed this year. A member of the al Qaeda-linked Abu Sayyaf was identified by witnesses as being behind the murder.
Gene Boyd Lumawag (26) was in december 2003 deelnemer aan het Asia-Europe Forum for Young Photographers 2003 in Amsterdam.
